Great shoe for wandering

I found three flexible-soled leather shoes that do not look like athletic shoes; reviews for the other two, both significantly more expensive, cast doubt on the durability of their flexible soles. With a walk-intensive vacation looming, I decided on the Hush Puppies Accel oxfords, and I am glad I did. I wear them with jeans, travel pants, and khakis/chinos. I like their bit of oxford-moccasin crossover style. The textured, fairly soft leather has adapted to Life as My Shoes in the two months I've owned them, and, while the shoes are still eminently presentable, they seem to say, "I'm not super-dressy, but I'm sure comfortable." On a kinesiologist's advice, I've been wearing more flexible soles for the last few years, and it has helped my troubled feet. These shoes are no exception; I spent two weeks walking extensively on the cobblestones and sidewalks of old cities and on archaeological sites on the aforementioned vacation, with surprisingly little discomfort. One caveat--I wear thin neoprene foam insoles in all my shoes for a bit of extra padding, including these shoes. Traction is excellent. I've felt sure-footed, even on uneven rock outcrops polished smooth by countless feet, where I saw more than one person slip. It's almost too good; in a couple of careless moments the ridges almost caught on the ridged nonslip edging they put on some stairs. However, this was fleeting, and not significant enough to make me stumble or lose my balance. They've held up well thus far. The soles show little wear and the uppers are in fine shape. The suede still looks good. I've polished the smooth leather with a neutral polish to avoid discoloring the contrasting stitching, and after a day of dusty walking a quick brushing restores them to respectability.
